Terms of sale

Last updated: 26 September 2026

About these terms

These terms apply when you book a consultation or order a Kontract tailored contract through this website. Please read them carefully before you book or order.

Consultations and Kontract are services of Kort Law Firm LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17371018, with its registered office at Berkeley Square House, Berkeley Square, London W1J 6BD ("Kort", "we", "us"). You can contact us at info@kortfirm.com.

In these terms, "you" means the person or business placing the order. If you order on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are authorised to bind it.

Regulatory status

Consultations are given, and Kontract tailored contracts are prepared, by Hassan Khalil, a lawyer registered with the Beirut Bar Association and a Registered Foreign Lawyer registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA number 7813775), on behalf of Kort Law Firm LTD. Kort Law Firm LTD is not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and some protections that apply to clients of SRA-authorised firms, such as the SRA Compensation Fund, are not available. Please read our legal and regulatory information before you order.

Consultations

What a consultation includes

A consultation is a one-hour meeting with Hassan Khalil to discuss your matter and your options, and to agree next steps. You can choose:

  • an online consultation by video, for the fee shown on our booking page; or
  • an in-person meeting at our Beirut office, or in London on request, for the fee shown on our booking page.

At the end of a consultation, we will tell you whether we can help further and, if so, give you a fee estimate. Any further work is carried out only under a separate engagement confirmed in writing.

Booking and payment

You pay the consultation fee in full when you book. Payment is processed by Stripe. Your booking is confirmed when you receive our confirmation email.

Before your consultation, we carry out a conflict check. If we cannot meet you, we will tell you and refund the fee in full.

Crediting the fee

If you instruct us on the same matter within 30 days of your consultation, we will deduct the consultation fee from our first invoice for that work.

Rescheduling and cancellation

You may reschedule or cancel your consultation free of charge up to 24 hours before its start time, and we will refund the fee in full if you cancel. If you cancel less than 24 hours before, or do not attend, the fee is not refundable. If we need to reschedule, we will offer you a new time or a full refund.

If you are a consumer, by booking a consultation that takes place within 14 days you ask us to provide it within your cancellation period, and once the consultation has taken place you will no longer have the right to cancel.

Kontract tailored contracts

The service

A Kontract tailored contract is a contract prepared for you by a Kort lawyer, based on our established precedents and adapted to the information you give us in our intake form. Each contract is prepared under the governing law you select from the options available on the Kontract page.

The service includes:

  • review of the information you provide in the intake form;
  • preparation of one contract of the type you have ordered, tailored to that information;
  • delivery of the contract in editable Word format and in PDF; and
  • one round of reasonable amendments, if you request them in writing within 14 days of delivery.

The service does not include advice on your wider transaction or dispute, negotiation with the other party, tax advice, advice on the law of any other jurisdiction, or the signing, stamping, registration, notarisation, or legalisation of the contract. If you need any of these, we can provide them under a separate engagement.

Ordering and acceptance

To order, complete the intake form and pay the fee shown at checkout. Your order is an offer to buy the service. A contract between you and us is formed when we email you to confirm that we have accepted your order.

Before accepting an order, we carry out a conflict check and any identity checks we are required to make. We may decline an order, for example if we have a conflict of interest, if the request falls outside the scope of the service or our areas of qualification, or if we cannot complete required checks. If we decline your order, we will tell you and refund your payment in full.

Price and payment

The fee for each Kontract tailored contract is shown on the Kontract page and at checkout. Prices are shown in pounds sterling. Any VAT that applies will be shown before you pay.

Payment is taken in full when you order and is processed securely by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.

Delivery

We will deliver your tailored contract by email within 3 working days of the later of accepting your order and receiving all the information we need from you. Working days exclude weekends and public holidays in England and in Lebanon.

If we need further information, we will ask you promptly, and the delivery time will run from when we receive it. If we expect to miss the delivery time for any reason, we will tell you as soon as possible.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • giving us complete and accurate information, and telling us promptly if anything changes;
  • reading the contract carefully before you use or sign it, and asking us about anything you do not understand; and
  • using the contract only for the purpose and parties described in your intake form.

The contract is prepared on the basis of the information you provide. We are not responsible for problems caused by information that is incomplete or inaccurate.

Cancellation of Kontract orders

If you are a consumer

If you are buying as an individual for purposes wholly or mainly outside your trade, business, craft, or profession, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of the day we accept your order, without giving a reason.

If you ask us to start work within that 14-day period, you must pay for the work we have done up to the time you tell us you want to cancel, and we will refund the rest. Once we have delivered your tailored contract, you will no longer have the right to cancel, because the service will have been fully performed at your request.

To cancel, email us at info@kortfirm.com with your name and order details. We will refund any amount due within 14 days, using the payment method you used to order.

If you are a business

You may cancel your order at any time before we start work on it and receive a full refund. Once work has started, fees are not refundable, except where we fail to deliver the service in accordance with these terms.

Quality of service

We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill. If you think we have not, please tell us as soon as possible and we will put it right.

If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to services that are not provided with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.

Our liability

Our total liability to you in connection with any consultation or order, whether in contract, negligence, or otherwise, is limited to the fee you paid for that consultation or order.

We are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss. If you are a consumer, we are not liable for any loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when the contract between us was formed.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

Intellectual property

When you have paid in full, you may use, copy, and adapt your tailored contract for the transaction described in your intake form and for your own business purposes. We keep all intellectual property rights in our precedents, templates, and drafting methods, and you may not resell or publish the contract or use it as a template for others.

Confidentiality and personal data

We keep the information you give us confidential, subject to our legal and regulatory obligations. We use personal data in accordance with our privacy policy.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with our service, please tell us. Our complaints procedure, including how to contact the Legal Ombudsman where eligible, is set out on our legal and regulatory information page.

Other terms

We may change these terms from time to time. The terms in force when you book or order apply to that booking or order.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect. Only you and we have rights under these terms.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, nothing in these terms deprives you of any mandatory protection given by the law of the country where you live.
